Our practice not only upholds the gold standard of Mohs surgery for skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma with its exceptionally high cure rates, but we also stand out for our meticulous, advanced, and artistic approach to reconstruction. Having performed more than 10,000 Mohs cases and reconstructions over nearly 20 years, my extensive experience ensures that each patient receives not only expert cancer removal but also superior cosmetic and functional outcomes.

The Difference With Dermatology of Philadelphia’s Mohs Surgery Approach
Some Mohs practices focus on treating a high volume of patients each day, with the cancer removal and reconstruction being handled by separate specialists. In these cases, a plastic surgeon often steps in for the reconstruction after the Mohs surgeon removes the cancer. While plastic surgeons bring valuable expertise, their practice often includes a broad range of cosmetic procedures, and Mohs-related reconstruction may not be their primary focus. Plastic surgery repairs, which could have been effectively handled by a Mohs surgeon under local anesthesia, often lead to higher costs and the need for more invasive anesthesia, placing unnecessary financial and procedural burdens on patients.
As a fellowship-trained and dual board-certified Mohs surgeon, I’ve undergone rigorous training specifically in skin cancer removal and reconstruction. I exclusively perform Mohs surgery and reconstruction, dedicating all of my time to this specialized area, with most procedures involving the face. This means I’m not only removing the cancer and examining the tissue under the microscope for clear margins, but also meticulously closing the wound with techniques designed to minimize scarring and achieve the best functional and cosmetic outcomes. When a patient chooses me for their Mohs surgery, they receive the full spectrum of care: a skin cancer expert and a reconstruction specialist with cosmetic expertise, all in one.
Advanced Reconstruction: Precision Meets Artistry
Reconstruction is as much an art as it is a science. Every patient’s situation is unique, and no two reconstructions are the same. With nearly two decades of experience, I’ve developed a refined eye for tailoring each reconstruction to the specific needs of the patient. Whether it’s the face, ears, or another highly visible area, I take the time to carefully plan and execute the closure in a way that preserves your appearance and the natural contours of your skin. My approach ensures that scars blend in with the surrounding skin, and my patients often tell me they are amazed at how well the area heals.
Unlike Mohs surgery practices that routinely refer their patients out for plastic surgery after the cancer is removed, I stay with my patients every step of the way. From diagnosis, surgical removal, cancer mapping, examination of tissue under the microscope, and to the final stitch, my hands do the work. There’s no disconnect between the removal and the reconstruction. I don’t believe that “handing off” a patient after cancer removal is always in the best interest of the patient; I see the reconstruction as just as important as the surgery itself.

A True Expert Knows When to Collaborate
While my extensive training and experience in reconstruction allow me to handle a wide variety of cases, I also know that a true expert recognizes when a unique or special situation may benefit from collaboration with other specialists. For particularly complex cases, or those requiring specialized expertise, I work closely with a trusted group of highly skilled facial plastic surgeons, oculoplastic (eye) surgeons, and plastic surgeons.
These trusted colleagues are experts in their respective fields, and when needed, I have no hesitation in referring my patients to them for certain reconstructions. I only work with those who share my same commitment to expert, meticulous reconstruction and who prioritize patient outcomes as I do. This ensures that you receive the best possible care from beginning to end, no matter the complexity of your case.
When I refer a patient to one of these specialists, it is because I believe their specific expertise will enhance the outcome. And as always, I remain involved in your care, ensuring seamless communication throughout the entire process.
No Rush, No Shortcuts: A Commitment to Excellence
In my practice, I never rush the process, and I never take shortcuts when it comes to reconstruction. Achieving an excellent outcome requires time, care, and attention to detail. Sometimes this means staying late in the surgery center with my patients to ensure every aspect of the reconstruction is 100% perfect. It’s about making sure you feel confident in the care you’re receiving, knowing that I’ve taken the time to get everything right—from the removal of the cancer to the final stitch. I approach each case with the belief that excellence requires patience, and my patients are worth that extra effort.
Committed to Being the Best
Our practice is committed to being at the top of our game—delivering nothing short of the best. This commitment drives us to stay at the forefront of the latest techniques and advancements in both Mohs surgery and reconstruction. I continuously refine my skills and approach, ensuring that my patients receive world-class care that reflects my dedication to perfection. My team and I hold ourselves to the highest standards because we believe every patient deserves nothing less than excellence. Whether it’s a routine case or a more complex reconstruction, we approach each with the same level of detail, care, and expertise—so that you know you’re in the best hands possible.
My Commitment to Excellence
In a world where often volume is prioritized over quality, I choose to prioritize you—the patient. Each case I handle is unique, and I approach it with the same level of dedication and precision I would if I were treating my own family. You deserve nothing less.
